SUMMARY:My Field for Dummies – Social Media and Science Communication
DESCRIPTION:Come join GBatNet scholar Dr. Dana Green for her talk titled “#Bats: Using Social Media for Science Communication.” Dr. Green is a migratory bat ecologist working in Canada and\, along with her research\, is a science communicator! She gives many outreach presentations to classrooms while also bringing her enthusiasm for bats and bat research to social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram. As many bat specialists know effective communication is key to helping shift perspectives about bats\, so come hear about some fun ways to get people engaged! She will also share about the upcoming 2027 International Year of the Bats\, and ways GBatNet is getting ready. The talk will be available FREE via Zoom on 07 Oct 2026 at 9 AM Eastern US Time\, and will be made available for viewing afterwards on the GBatNet YouTube channel. The talk is appropriate for all levels of expertise\, including those who are new to the field and want to learn more about how they may plug into this type of research.
