SUMMARY:My Field for Dummies - Bat Conservation Research in Bangladesh
DESCRIPTION:Come join GBatNet scholar Dr. Md Ashraf UI Hasan for his talk titled “Bat Conservation Research in Bangladesh: Distribution\, diversity\, and habitat selection in human modified landscapes.” Dr. Hasan’s research focuses on how bat species respond to land-use changes and their adaptability to the mosaic landscape. Leading his project in Bangladesh\, he aims to describe the diversity of bats\, characterize the response of forest dependent bats to land-use change\, build capacity to strengthen long-term bat research\, and improve knowledge among local communities on the importance of bats in nature and dispel misconception about bats. He is also interested in educating people of all ages – from kids to adults – aiming to dissipate misconceptions about bats and share insights into bat biology. The talk will be available FREE via Zoom on 02 Sept 2026 at 9 AM Eastern US Time\, and will be made available for viewing afterwards on the GBatNet YouTube channel. The talk is appropriate for all levels of expertise\, including those who are new to the field and want to learn more about how they may plug into this type of research.
