SUMMARY:My Field for Dummies - Field Sequencing
DESCRIPTION:Come join GBatNet Student Representative Lexi Frank\, a PhD student at the University of Minnesota\, for a workshop-style demonstration on how to use DNA in the field for bat species identification! In her talk titled “Bat ID on the Fly: How to use DNA to Identify Species in the Field\,” she will walk us through a field sequencing protocol where we ‘catch’ an unidentified bat\, ‘collect’ a DNA sample\, sequence and analyze the data to find out what species it is together. The talk will be available FREE via Zoom on 08 January 2025 at 9 AM Eastern US Time\, and will be made available for viewing afterwards on the GBatNet YouTube channel. The talk is appropriate for all levels of expertise\, including those who are new to the field and want to learn more about how they may plug into this type of research.
